ATTENDANCE\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
All Board members were present (via Zoom): Rod Dore, Craig Hoffman, Terry McAteer, Wayne\u00a0 Schafer, Joel Wiener\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n CALL TO ORDER\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n A meeting of the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association was duly called on Wednesday,\u00a0 June 30, at 9:10 am. Chief Executive Officer Horace Green called the meeting to order.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The minutes of the Board Meeting on March 24 were approved by acclimation. <\/span>CONFIRMATION OF DATES\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Members McAteer and Hoffman confirmed that the dedication of the Scoutcraft Building at\u00a0 Camp Royaneh would be on August 21, with the camp opening at 10 am and the ceremonies\u00a0 beginning at 11 am. The Board discussed the hosting of lunch following the dedication, with\u00a0 the details to be planned once a final head count had been determined.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Member Dore confirmed that a Memorial Service for Larry Teshara would be held at 11 am on\u00a0 Saturday, August 28 at St. Stephen\u2019s Church on Eucalyptus Avenue in San Francisco.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n MEMBERSHIP\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n Member Wiener informed the board of a non-alumnus who was interested in the mission of\u00a0 the Association, and asked to be included in our communications to the members. It was\u00a0 decided by acclimation that those individuals could be added to the mailing list in a section\u00a0 ancillary to the list of Alumni.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n COMMEMORATIVE PLAQUE\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n It was suggested that it would be a nice touch to commission the creation of a plaque to be\u00a0 mounted on the Scoutcraft Building at Camp Royaneh, delineating the accomplishments of\u00a0 Larry Teshara in Scouting. Member Hoffman offered to put Member Wiener in touch with a\u00a0 vendor who had done similar work for the camp in the past. Member Wiener committed to\u00a0 compose copy for the plaque, and submit it to the Board for approval.<\/span><\/p>\n FINANCIAL\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n The Treasurer reported that the bank account held the sum of $964.99. Member McAteer\u00a0 reported that the campaign to raise money for a concrete pad to function as a foundation for\u00a0 the Scoutcraft Center had been a success, that the pad had been completed, and that in fact\u00a0 there might be money left over from that campaign that could be returned to the Association.\u00a0 Member Hoffman said he would follow up with the Camp administration, and would inquire if\u00a0 such funds could be used to purchase the commemorative plaque.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n FUNDRAISING\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n The Board discussed the two charities that CEO Green proposed as recipients of our\u00a0 contribution for 2021: Root & Rebound Re-entry Advocates, and the James E. West Fellowship. The Board certified that either charity would be worthy of recognition, and that in fact, the\u00a0 donation could be split between the two entities.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Member Schafer brought up the subject of fundraising, and specifically how to encourage\u00a0 members to contribute to the donation fund. He suggested that it is incumbent upon the board\u00a0 to lead by example: that is, the Board needs to show members that they are committed by\u00a0 making donations themselves. The Board took this suggestion under advisement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n It was agreed by acclimation that all donations should be sent to the Secretary\/Treasurer at his\u00a0 home address.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n FUTURE EVENTS\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n The Board discussed future Association reunions. It was agreed that we would discuss a\u00a0 potential reunion date once it was clear that group events were both sanctioned by appropriate\u00a0 government agencies and appealing to the Association members.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n ADJOURNMENT\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n The Board agreed to meet next on September 29 at 9 am.
